Summary:
Students are to find a list of items that have symmetry in the school
Tasks:
1) Describe the main steps of the activity/lesson/project here
  • Students are to take digital camera around school and look for items that are semetric.
  • Studens are to upload the pictures to the computer.
  • Students are to use the pictures to create a show in photostory showing the symmetry and making transfomations.
Objectives:
  • G.TR.08.09
    Understand the definition of a dilation from a point in the plane, and relate it to
    the definition of similar polygons.
    G.TR.08.10
    Understand and use reflective and rotational symmetries of two-dimensional
    shapes and relate them to transformations to solve problem
  • Students will be able to rotate, flip, and show lines of symmetry.
  • Students will work in pairs on this project.
Assessment:
As a class we will look at the photo shows. Students will grade themselves. Students need to have correct pictures, transformations, and explanitations.
